Plymouth County Supervisors Approve Tax Credit for Oil, Ethanol Plant 04.28.10

The Plymouth County Supervisors will give back a portion of property taxes paid annually by Plymouth Oil L.L.C. and Plymouth Energy.

The supervisors Tuesday approved economic development agreements with both companies. Initially such agreements were discussed when Plymouth Oil and Plymouth Energy were considering building in the county.

Each company pays its annual property taxes and then receives back tax dollars that are not included in the county or school's debt service levies, said Stacey Feldman, county auditor.

The maximum amount of taxes rebated throughout a five-year agreement with Plymouth Oil is $175,000 and at Plymouth Energy its $1.7 million in a seven-year agreement, Feldman said.

If taxable valuation increases, either company could achieve that "not to exceed" number sooner, Feldman said.

No one commented at a public hearing concerning Plymouth Oil and Plymouth Energy's tax rebate agreements prior to their approval.
